Trent University
The idea for the Trent Centre for Community-Based Education was originally proposed through a partnership with Trent University in 1996. This long-standing and fruitful relationship is recognized throughout the world as a pioneering model for community-academic work in North America. The University is known for its interdisciplinary education and research, supportive community environment and emphasis on global perspectives.

U-Links Centre for Community-Based Research
The U-Links Centre for Community-Based Research was established in 1999 to deliver the Community-Based Education program in Haliburton County. While the CBE program is the main way we work together, the Trent Centre and U-Links share common goals and work together on many different projects. The TCCBE would not be where it is today without the strong support of U-Links. U-Links is a project of the Haliburton County Community Co-operative (HCCC), a non-profit corporation formed by local citizens that is committed to undertaking and sponsoring entrepreneurial projects that support economic, cultural, social and environmental development in Haliburton County.

J.W. McConnell Family Foundation
The J.W. McConnell Family Foundation has provided support for the Community-Based Education program since 2005. In addition to the CBE program, working with the McConnell Foundation has allowed the TCCBE to innovate in program and service delivery and prepare for our next stage of growth and sustainability.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation

The Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Government of Ontario, has funded the Trent Centre for Community-Based Education with a two-year grant in 2009 and 2010 to 1) launch a new service called the Strategic Research Initiative; 2) receive training in planning, evaluation and research techniques; and, 3) create a Peterborough Network for Community-Based Research, Evaluation and Planning. We are grateful for this opportunity to enhance our existing program and service offerings.

Continuous Campaign

The TCCBE has recently received confirmation that Trent University will fund part of the Community-Based Education program and related activities until 2015. This contribution will fund just over half of the annual budget for the program, resulting in an investment of approximately $945,000 in Peterborough County over the next 7 years. The expectation has always been that the community would provide financial support for the remainder of the cost. For the last five years, a J. W. McConnell Family Foundation grant and other funding has covered that portion of our budget. As an independent, not-for-profit organization, the TCCBE is initiating a continuous fundraising campaign to generate the community contribution to the program for future years. Please get in touch if you are interested in making an in-kind or financial contribution.
