Knowledge in Action: A Forum about Research in our Local Community

happy hosts and student - KIA Forum 2009

On March 19, the Trent Centre for Community-Based Education (TCCBE) invited the community to attend our 4th annual Knowledge in Action Forum.  The event was free and open to the public - bringing together student researchers, community organizations, academic supervisors and interested citizens.

This event showcased over 30 community-based research projects conducted by Trent University students this year in Peterborough city and county in partnership with
numerous community organizations through the Community-Based Education Program.

These projects provided topical insight into our community around a number of compelling themes:

  • Community History
  • Environmental Policy and Practice
  • Project and Program Evaluation
  • Safety and Social Justice

The event also featured project posters from the Community Service-Learning Program (civic engagement projects with first-year students and local organizations) and the Strategic Research Initiative (projects involving faculty researchers).
