| #4194 Benefits & Protection of Local Cultural, Environmental and Heritage Sites | The purpose of the project is to convene faculty and other researchers interested in three overarching research questions: 1) How do you quantify the benefits of cultural and heritage resources and in turn, assure their appreciation and protection? 2) What is the most effective model(s) for a multi-stakeholder processes to be applied across diverse geographic landscape areas in order to promote and ensure environmental, heritage protection? and 3) How can we develop a “Cost-Benefit Analysis” for different approaches towards environmental protection such as land conservation (i.e. land trusts) or environmental advocacy (i.e. Sierra Club or Greenpeace) and their outcomes upon the state of i) biodiversity, ii) carbon sequestration, and iii) habitat in Canada? |
| #4070 Peterborough's Aging Workforce - Digital Workforce Analysis & Modelling | The purpose of the project is to develop a spatially-explicit (GIS) digital platform that will allow for exhaustive statistical and geo-statistical analysis of existing demographic (Stats Canada) and other miscellaneous data, complemented by survey design and interviews to model the spatial and temporal distribution of aging labour supply and demand in the Greater Peterborough Region. Thus, the tool could allow common access and analytical pathways to researchers and decision-makers to determine industries/occupations in the Greater Peterborough Region that will be experiencing labour shortages due to retirements of baby boomers. The developed models will allow for predicting how the dynamics and spatial distribution of the supply -demand match of aging work force in Urban and Rural areas in the Greater Peterborough Region will change by some sectors due to demographics and the trend of de-industrialization. This project is part of a larger Aging Workforce Research Pilot Project hosted by the Workforce Development Board. |
