Understanding the increase in mental health calls to Peterborough Police Since 2010

Proj. #:4750
Description: Peterborough Police hope to understand why there has been a rise in number of mental health calls in the city of Peterborough, and how to best respond to mental health-related crises. In 2010 there was a significant increase in calls to the police that were identified as mental health calls. Numbers have remained at this elevated level ever since. The aim of this research is to understand why this is the case and if this increase relates to an increase in need, or an increase in the identification of calls to police having a mental health component, or other community factors.
