The Haliburton Muskoka Kawartha Children’s Water Festival (CSL)

Proj. #:4817
Description:This project is a Community Service Learning (CSL) project and not research. The Haliburton-Muskoka-Kawartha Childrens Water Festival is an annual event that motivates students in grades 4-6 to become water stewards in their homes, classrooms and communities. By combining hands-on interactive activities with messages relevant to their daily lives students soak up knowledge on the properties as well as uses and importance of water. With this knowledge they become aware of the value of conserving and protecting water. The water festival helps shape childrens attitudes about respecting and conserving valuable water resources so they can ensure a reliable water supply for the future. About 70 volunteers are needed each day to staff the activity centres. Volunteers will help with running activities; act as greeters; directing groups through the site and help to keep the grounds safe and tidy.
